Come gestire l’estrema preoccupazione del tuo cane per i fuochi d’artificio e il tuono?
Esempio n. 1: Tonya Wilhelm e la preoccupazione di Thunder del suo cane
Tonya Wilhelm ha detto che il suo canino Theo era il caso “più estremo” della fobia tuono che ha visto.
Se le capita di essere a casa con Theo durante un temporale, ha detto che i suoi occhi si sarebbero dilatati e avrebbe ansato, ritmo, scavare, cercare di far cadere le cose e non si sarebbe risolto.
“Se fossi sparito, mangiava il tappeto, muri, bussò a tutto in vista, urinato e defecato”, ha detto.
Wilhelm non riuscì a trovare nulla per risolvere il comportamento del suo cane.
Ha provato a lavorare su un programma di addestramento alla desensibilizzazione e ha provato a dargli farmaci. Si è anche trasferita con sua madre, quindi Theo sarebbe solo meno spesso.
Durante i temporali, Wilhelm lo farebbe:
Metti Theo in una maglietta aderente
Metti le orecchie di pistola sopra le sue orecchie
acceso la TV
Imposta un fan della scatola
rannicchiato meglio su di lui!
Se Theo doveva essere lasciato solo, lo mise nella sua cassa con un pezzo di plexiglas attaccato all’interno della porta della cassa. Questo gli impediva di danneggiare le unghie quando si artigliava alla porta.
Oggi, Wilhelm è un addestratore canino professionista con un addestratore canino globale e ha trovato un paio di idee che aiutano alcuni cani dei suoi clienti con fobie di temporale.
Suggerisce quanto segue:

Un prodotto calmante naturale chiamato Storm Stress

La musica “attraverso un orecchio di un cane”, sviluppata per aiutare i cani a rilassarsi

Wilhelm ha detto che è essenziale dare al tuo cane qualsiasi farmaco o aiuti calmanti prima che il tuo canino si senta stressato. Ciò dà al farmaco il tempo sufficiente per entrare nel corpo del cane.

Infine, usa anche la “terapia alimentare” avviando i cani dei suoi clienti con una “dieta di raffreddamento che è ricca di tonici nel sangue”. Questo include spesso coniglio, sardine, ostriche, prezzemolo, carote e spinaci, ha detto.

Esempio n. 2: Elaina Cowdell e la preoccupazione dei fuochi d’artificio della sua cane
Il canino di Elaina Cowdell Lilly è spaventato da tuoni, fuochi d’artificio e colpi di arma da fuoco.
Lilly cercherà di allontanarsi da ciò che la spaventa e distruggerà le tende o attraverserà gli schermi nel processo.
“Ho provato tutto sotto il sole”, ha detto Cowdell. “Paint di tuoni, spray e collari calmanti, CD calmanti e desensibilizzanti, ho acquistato e provato tutto.”
Ciò che alla fine ha aiutato è stato quello di trovare un veterinario pronto a lavorare con Cowdell nel trovare i migliori farmaci per gestire l’ansia di Lilly.
Cowdell ha anche trovato un addestratore specializzato in cani paurosi e usa un allenamento di desensibilizzazione.
“Ad esempio, quando sta accadendo un temporale, riceverò prelibatezze di alto valore e le lancerò in aria e le dirò di” trovarlo “ogni volta che accade”, ha detto.
“Questo fa due cose. La aiuta a iniziare a pensare che Thunder implica deliziosi prelibatezze ed è una buona cosa, e aiuta a distrarla trovando tutte le prelibatezze “.

Quando Cowdell non può essere a casa con Lilly e c’è il potenziale per temporali o fuochi d’artificio, ha detto che lascia il canino in un asilo nido.
Se è a casa con Lilly e diventa davvero brutta, Cowdell darà a Lilly una dose extra di medicine approvata dal veterinario per aiutarla a calmarla mentre la tiene.
“Andiamo al piano di sotto, alza la radio o la TV forte e faccio tutto il possibile per ridurre il suono e farla sentire al sicuro.”
Esempio n. 3: Sandy Cumberland e la preoccupazione dei fuochi d’artificio del canino Pequena
Sandy Cumberland ha detto che la sua pequena canina è un canino di salvataggio da un villaggio in Messico.
“Credo che la gente del posto possa aver preso colpi di pentola contro di lei e gli altri cani selvatici per impedirli di immondizia e dal pesce come il pescatore hauled their nets onto the beach,” she said.
“A single percussive sound – a car backfiring, even the sound of a stapler – will put her into a nervous state. You can imagine what fireworks do to her!”
During fireworks, Cumberland said her canine runs to the closet and buries herself as deeply as she can.
“Her whole body shakes. She pants furiously, with the whites of her eyes showing all around.”
In attempts to help Pequena, Cumberland said she has tried various natural remedies for her dog.
“None had any impact at all.”
Her vet suggested a prescription tranquilizer but because Pequena is sensitive to medications Cumberland didn’t want to go that route.
So, if she knows there will be fireworks, Cumberland stays home with Pequena or arranges for someone to be there.
“I sit near the closet and speak with her in a soothing voice. If I can reach her, I will keep my hand on her, stroking her as I speak,” she said.
“I don’t attempt to hold her, even though as a human our temptation is to cuddle someone who is afraid, as being confined will just increase the anxiety.”
When the noise is over, she makes sure to give her canine water and then Pequena sleeps for a long time but never has any long-term effects.
“Like humans who suffer from anxiety, between episodes her life is very normal.”

Example #4: Kirsten Stuart and her canine Abbie
Kirsten Stuart has an 8-year-old boxer/pitbull mix named Abbie who has always had a worry of thunder and fireworks.
“She seems to hear the most distant sound of thunder even before I do,” Stuart said. “She gets this look of sheer terror on her face and crawls on my lap.”
She said Abbie shakes and pants, and fireworks are even scarier for her.
“With the sound of each firework, she flinches and the worry in her eyes is just sad, all you see is sheer terror.”
Stuart said she has tried everything from oils and natural herbs to a Thundershirt to taking Abbie to the basement to play.
“I have resigned to the fact that she is and will be deathly scared of fireworks, and as her canine mother I need to find the best and safest service to try to calm her.”
In this case, Stuart has found that medication is the only service to keep Abbie calm.
“The dosage has been thoroughly chose upon by our vet and she gets just enough to calm her through fireworks displays,” Stuart said.
“Now that I have found a service for both thunderstorms and fireworks, it is much calmer at the house during these events.”
Her guidance to other canine owners it to remember every canine is different.
“Find what works for them and is comfortable for the both of you.”
